The Chocolatadas (hot chocolate fiestas) are organised in and around Ollantaytambo by two young Peruvian brothers:

Washi Gibaja: (more info) and Carlos Gibaja (more info)

Aided by groups of international helpers, they bring hot chocolate, sticky bread, and a small gift to 100's of children living in remote settlements at high altitudes near Machu Picchu the week before Christmas.

For most children this will be their only Christmas present.

Rene Pena Farfan (more info) organises chocolatadas to many mountain villages around Ccapi, six hours north of Cusco.

He doesn’t have volunteers because the villages are so remote.

If you live in the area would YOU like to be his first helper?

When we first fund-raised for Washi and Carlos 10 years ago, some children would walk for two days and sleep rough to reach the nearest village where they could excitedly receive their small gift and mug of steaming hot chocolate.

Now Washi and Carlos reach more villages each year, so this doesn’t need to happen.
